This campaign is about who you trust to collect your taxes and protect your private information on the voter rolls. It’s also about who you can count on to continue leading the fight against outside special interests who want to privatize delinquent tax collection and divert millions of dollars from public services to private attorneys’ fees.
I’m not neutral on this issue — because neutrality isn’t good enough when private tax law firms are trying to get their hands on scarce public resources.

Forty-three years ago this week, a peaceful march led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. across the Edmund Pettis Bridge was met with police dogs, batons, and fire hoses — an act of such violence that a horrified nation demanded the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 just a few weeks later.
Tomorrow, we have a unique opportunity to reinforce that legacy by using the power of our vote to create a better future. It doesn’t require a march this time or the courage to confront riot police. All it takes is a few moments to cast your ballot for the kind of steady leadership that will continue to give modern expression to the traditional values that made us great.

AMERICAN-STATESMAN: ‘HELP NELDA WELLS SPEARS CONTINUE HER GOOD WORK’
The Austin American-Statesman this morning published one of the strongest editorial in recent memory, urging Travis County voters to re-elect Nelda.
“She’s a quiet, dignified woman doing a quiet, dignified — and quite competent — job,” the paper noted. “We urge voters to stick with Nelda Wells Spears in the March 4 primary. She runs a clean operation free of partisan politics.”
